- Do you take traditional and reportage photos?
- Yes we do, in fact we use both traditional and reportage styles as well as many others to document your wedding day with a minimal amount of fuss. We like to make your photography all about you rather than making it about what we want to do.
- What equipment do you use?
- You can always check out our equipment page for a more detailed look - but we use four (plus a spare, always carrying a spare is a good thing) Canon digital cameras from their EOS professional range, four of Canon's best lenses and a whole host of other stuff such as Canon flashes - we basically carry as much kit as we need to do the job.
- Can we print, email and Facebook our own pictures?
- Absolutely, with every package you get a DVD containing all usable images from your day in full resolution (for printing) and low resolution (for Facebook, email and so on). We can also provide you with a licence to print that some supermarkets require - so long as you don't use them for commercial use we're happy!
- I don't like having my photo taken. Help!
- We can easily adapt to make anyone feel at home in front of the camera, we can also use various techniques to take any emphasis off anything you'd like us to. Whilst we're taking the majority of our photos we tend to blend in with the crowd to take the pressure off. We also offer a pre-wedding engagement shoot to make sure you're comfortable in front of the camera.
- How many pictures will you take?
- How long is a piece of string? It's one of those questions! Generally, if we're hired from preparations through to the first dance we take around 1500 photos, we then go through them to delete any duplicates, blinking shots and so on to give you anywhere between 300-700 photos depending on the level of detail at the wedding etc..
- Do you shoot black & white as well as colour?
- We shoot in digital and with your proofs you will get all images in colour and all images in black and white to save you having to imagine! This also means that if you want any photo changing to sepia, or spot colouring then it's all possible.
- Will you visit our venue?
- Absolutely. We like to meet both of you at your venue(s) to make sure we know where we're going as well as to form a contingency plan in case of rain and gauge the spots where you would feel make a good photo - we like as much input from our clients as possible, after all it's your day.
- Will we meet the photographer that will be at our wedding?
- Yes you will. I (Richard) personally see every one of our clients before they book to make sure we all get along. I also attend every wedding (unless in an extreme case of illness) so you'll get to meet me before I take your photos.
- Do you require any food?
- Nope. We used to, but now we run off pixie dust and wedding cake. We don't really pig out on your wedding cake, but we do pack our own sandwiches so that you don't have anybody else to have to think about. If a hot meal is available it's always very welcome - but certainly not a necessity.
- What retouching do you carry out?
- After your wedding photos have been taken we go through them to sort the wheat from the chaff. From there we convert everything to JPEG and carry out any retouching - for your image disc we remove minor obstructions, fix closed eyes and generally make sure everything looks hunky dory before you see them. This takes some time, but it's worth it.
- Why do your packages cost what they do?
- Because I make a living out of what I do. This is quite a precarious issue, because on the face of it we will seem expensive compared to Joe Bloggs down the road at £400 - however we do this full time, not just at the weekends and that means you're paying for a week (often more) rather than a day. We can afford to dedicate more time to you and your wedding photos, ensuring that you get the very best product possible. I chat to endless brides and grooms that have Uncle Dave or the father of the bride take their photos and more often than not it ends in tears - after all, just because my friend has a paintbrush doesn't make him Picasso! We feel the quality of our work speaks for itself - and it's an area in which you should buy the very best you can afford.
- We're interested in booking, what do we do next?
- Just give us a ring or send an email. We always like to visit our couples before they book to go through our sample albums, get more details and so on - it also ensures you're comfortable with us.
- Are you flexible with your prices?
- To an extent we are. If you're looking to book a Saturday in August then not as much, but we do offer a discount of 10% for winter weddings (1st October to 31st March) and weekdays (Monday through to Thursday). We're also human though, so if for any reason you can't quite afford exactly what you'd like then just ask.
- What albums do you offer?
- We offer a variety of different albums depending on what you want. We offer four different albums as standard but we're not tied down to one particular manufacturer, so if you'd like something a bit more traditional or something a bit larger/thicker/different colour/with fancy stripes - whatever - just ask and we'll see what we can do.
- How long will you be at our wedding?
- That depends on how long you'd like to book us for. Our shortest package is ceremony-only coverage which includes from half an hour before to half an hour after your ceremony at one location. Our longest package is a full day and involves from your preparations in the morning through to the end of your reception. Our most popular package is a three-quarter day which includes preparations through to about half an hour after your first dance.
- Who chooses the pictures for our album?
- You do, every single one of them. We can suggest which ones if you'd like, but we prefer you to have total control over what goes in your album. Once a proof has been produced for your album we can make any changes you want until you're happy.
- Do we get any say in how our album looks?
- Absolutely. As per the question above, once we've done a proof you can change it as much as you like until you're happy. The same goes for any coverings, decorations and so on - it's all down to you.
- How long does it all take?
- We like to say about two weeks before you see any pictures. In a nutshell it takes us around two weeks to get everything processed, retouched and of a good enough standard for us to release to you, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less - it depends. We can (if required) get our 'top 30' or so posted on our blog before then if you're not going on your honeymoon immediately - we tend to say a couple of days for that. As for everything else, albums can take two weeks for a design and anything between one and eight weeks to be produced - it depends on the supplier.
- What will it cost for you to travel to.......?
- We incorporate travel up to a 50 mile radius from our base in LE7, that incorporates as far south as: Milton Keynes; Banbury; Bedford; Evesham, as far north as: Sheffield; Lincoln; Stoke, as far east as: Spalding; Peterborough, and as far west as: Droitwich; Wolverhampton and Bewdley. Anything beyond that we charge £1 per mile - but we think we cover a good distance!
- Do you photograph wedding abroad?
- We certainly can do. Weddings abroad incur the same cost as a regular wedding in the UK - but we ask you to cover any transport, hotel and food related costs.
- Will you shoot Asian/Chinese/Same Sex weddings?
- Absolutely. We're happy to shoot any style of wedding you wish for. We've covered Greek, Sikh and mixed-race weddings, however we're always keen to expand and cover any sort of union.
- Can you put our images online for purchase?
- We can do that. An online gallery can be a great way to distribute your wedding photos so that anyone in the world can see them if you want them to. There is no extra charge for an online gallery.
- How long do you keep our images?
- Indefinitely. We create four versions of your images, two copies of the originals (both stored at different locations) and two copies of our 'work in progress' files - again in two separate locations. Once a hard drive is full then it's replaced with the old one kept as a further archive.
